I teach at Walker|West, the historic community music school where I first began my own piano journey. Thought to be the oldest community music school in the nation founded by African American musicians, Walker|West has been dedicated for decades to making music education affordable, accessible, and high-quality. While all genres of music are celebrated—including classical—there’s a special emphasis on jazz, gospel, and improvisational music. More than just a school, Walker|West is a caring community where professional musicians inspire a lifelong love of music.
